Basso (water park)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Basso was a swimming pool with an attached amusement park in Bad Schmiedeberg .

The Basso was opened in 1993 as the first so-called fun pool in the new federal states . The costs are then estimated at 36 million marks. After initially high visitor numbers from surrounding cities such as Leipzig and Wittenberg , demand fell as more and more fun pools were built, for example in nearby Bad Düben . On September 26, 2003, the 2.5 millionth visitor was welcomed by the State Minister for Economic Affairs, Horst Rehberger . At the end of the year, the operator had to file for bankruptcy. In 2009 the facility was completely closed, has been neglected since then and became a victim of metal thieves.
