Bastian Kypke

Bastian Kypke (* 1977 ) is a former German football player .

career

In 1992 Kypke came into contact with American football through a work group at school and joined the youth department of the Braunschweig Lions . In the 1996 season he was for the first time in the squad of the men's team, for which he then ran up until the end of the 2005 game year. He won the German championship four times with Braunschweig (1997, 1998, 1999, 2005) and was runner-up five times (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004). In 1999 and 2003 he won the Eurobowl with the team, and in 2002 he lost the European Cup final. Following the 2005 season, the defensive back pulled out like other long-time regulars such as Rico Trute , Stefan Wesche and Stefan Zichback from the squad. The 1.86 meter tall Kypke took part with the German national team in the European Championships in 2000 (silver) and 2001 (gold).

After his playing career, Kypke became assistant coach at the Braunschweig Lions in 2007 and as such was responsible for the defensive backs, from 2009 to 2011 he was defense coordinator, then again responsible for the defensive backs. In 2012 he also became a member of the German national team's coaching staff, where he was also responsible for the defensive backs. In this position he contributed to winning the European title in 2014.
