BattleBlock Theater is a jump-and-run game developed by The Behemoth . It was released on April 8, 2013 for Xbox 360 and May 15, 2014 for Windows .

action

At the beginning of the game, the player, Hatty Hattington and many other friends go on a journey in a ship. But a big storm approaches and the ship lands on a mysterious island, which is inhabited by intelligent cats. In the course of the game, the player tries to free Hatty Hattington, who is appointed head of the Battleblock Theater by the kittens. To do this, he has to create different levels that serve as attractions in the theater. When the player frees Hatty at the end, he no longer moves or blinks and is called a "vegetable" by the narrator. A large green beam erupts from the hat that Hatty Hattington is obsessed with when it touches his head again after Hatty and hat are thrown out of the ship dancing the closing song.

The game was first shown at the Tokyo International Anime Festival in 2009 under the name "Game # 3". It was codenamed because it is the 3rd game by The Behemoth . The narrator in the game (subtitled in the German version) is Will Stamper. On March 4th, 2014 it was announced that a Steam version was in development and a closed beta would take place from March 31st to April 6th. The Steam version should largely correspond to the Xbox version, only with the difference that some Steam features are supported (Steam Workshop & Steam Inventory), there will be new cat enemies in story mode and the option to select a secondary weapon.

Battleblock Theater received mostly good reviews, largely for its humor and multiplayer features . It has a Metacritic Score of 85, Netzwelt gave the game a “Very Good”, and 4Players gave the game an 87% rating.
