history

Front of the first edition from 1889

Trade journal

The very first edition of the “Schweizer Bau-Blatt” appeared on September 10, 1889. At that time it was printed as a sample number with 20,000 copies by the Walter Senn-Barbieux publishing house in St. Gallen and sent to those interested in the construction business throughout Switzerland.

The subscription price was CHF 1 50 per quarter. On the front page of the first edition there was an invitation to subscribe: “Even though there are good technical journals for the construction industry in Switzerland ( Schweizerische Bauzeitung , Illustrierte Schweizerische Handwerker-Zeitung), one is still missing at the moment the real link between architects, builders, contractors and building authorities ... »...« A competent, professional workforce is well taken care of! It is obvious that such a sheet will be the most effective insertion organ for relevant articles, which we kindly invite you to use. "

The journal has changed a lot since 1889. The name changed four times at intervals of 30 years. Just six years after the first edition, a new logo was created that showed a carpenter and a draftswoman. In the beginning, the journal only appeared on Tuesday. In 1950 another edition was printed on Friday. In 1956, the first company headquarters was built in Rüschlikon on Lake Zurich. In 2002 the first edition appeared with a colored title page and the current logo.

website

On April 12, 1997, the first official homepage www.baublatt.ch went live. The design was a deep royal blue for over a year. Since the homepage was launched, the editorial team has written over 13,000 texts and uploaded almost 15,000 images. In 2000 there was a "second-hand" post on the former "BauOnline", where small advertisements for used construction machinery, scaffolding, remnants of plates and construction site vehicles could be placed free of charge. Under the heading «Building land requests», people and companies looked for building land - this service was also free.
