Ludwig Scheewe

Ludwig Scheewe (born November 25, 1898 in Jassy , Romania ; † 1948 in special camp No. 1 Mühlberg ) was a German art historian .

Ludwig Scheewe was born as the son of the draftsman and later businessman Ludwig Scheewe and his wife Rosa, nee. Brančik, born. He attended school in Leipzig from 1905 to 1916 and passed the Abitur at the Petri School . In 1916/17 he took part in the First World War as a soldier . From 1917 to 1925 he studied art history in Leipzig and Berlin and received his doctorate in 1925 at the University of Leipzig under Hermann Beenken . From 1923 (Volume 16) to 1937 (Volume 31) he was an employee of the editorial staff of the General Lexicon of Fine Artists from Antiquity to the Present in Leipzig.

In the History of Leipzig Museum two extensive be typescripts with handwritten notes and sketches to architectural history of Leipzig (around 1945) and about 450 photographs of individual buildings held (1930-1935) Scheewes.
