The peasant ax is a weapon from Denmark and Norway.

description

The peasant ax has a straight shaft that is curved near the blade. The crescent-shaped blade is single-edged. It is believed that this ax is a further development of the Viking ax . The shape of the shaft favors the cutting effect of the ax blade. These axes are often richly decorated and have a high status in the Nordic cultures, as the images of the ax are used in the Norwegian royal coat of arms and as a symbol of St. Olav .
