The Schlepzig Farm Museum is a museum about the history of agriculture in the Spreewald in Schlepzig in Brandenburg .

history

The museum is housed in an old farm that was originally the village mayor in 1818 from the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm III. together with 30 hectares of land and 70 hectares of forest as a fief .

In 1960 the property was placed under monument protection. In 1985 the museum opened as the Agricultural History Museum , which was later renamed the Farmers Museum . The museum has around 10,000 visitors a year.

Exhibitions

The area of ​​the yard is 5000 m². The exhibition deals with the life of the Spreewald farmers in the 19th and 20th centuries. A permanent exhibition on the history, customs and traditions of the Spreewald and the development of agriculture can be seen in the attic. In the stable barn, the processing of flax , the production of linen as well as beekeeping, forestry and fishing are shown. A collection of old agricultural machines, mainly from the period 1900 to 1980 (including wooden plows, various tractors, combine harvesters) is in the field barn.

In addition, small animals are kept and a herb garden is operated. In a clay oven , cakes are baked according to old recipes. The inner courtyard is shaded by a linden tree .
