The company was founded in Basel in 1920 as the private bank Ed. Greutert & Cie founded. In 1940 the name was changed to H. Sturzenegger & Cie before the current name, Baumann & Cie, Banquiers, was adopted in 1984. The branch in Zurich was opened in 2009, followed by expansion to Olten in 2016 .
