Pruning saws or pruning saws are used when caring for trees to cut branches or when felling small trees. The tooth pitch and geometry of the saw blade are matched to the sawing of the wood in the sap. There are versions that cut on pressure or on train or also on pressure and on train at the same time. There may be additional pull and push hooks with or without cutting edges on the saw blades.

Hacksaws with a taut, thin saw blade are usually used to quickly cut thick branches or trunks . For working in confined spaces, saws with a one-sided, untensioned saw blade that resemble a foxtail , but are equipped with a narrower and stronger saw blade, are more suitable .

Executions

  • Special saw blades with deeply cut clearing teeth for better removal of the sawdust from the saw cut are also called fresh wood or wet wood saw blades .
  • An average pruning saw has a one-handed handle made of plastic or wood , a blade length of 300 millimeters, a tooth width of three millimeters and a quiver with a belt loop for storing and transporting the pruning saw.
  • Pruning saws are also available as sliding or folding saws, which make it possible to hide the teeth of the saw blade in the handle for protection after use.
  • Pole saws are branch saws with a long handle and possibly with a telescopic handle for long ranges.
