Building stone from Augastad
The building stone of Augastad is a menhir . It stands south of Tørvikbygd between Tørvikvatn and the Hardangerfjord , east of Bergen in Fylke Vestland in Norway .
The building stone from the Iron Age is about 5.25 meters high, 70 cm wide at the base and about 15 cm thick.
The stone has a smooth surface and ends in a small point. It was previously used as a clapper bridge over a small river and was moved back to its original location a few years ago.
Nearby are the rock carvings of Salthammeren (north) and the Vikingnes Cairn (south).
