The Bavarian Badminton Association e. V. , BBV for short, was founded on November 27, 1955 in Munich in the gym of MTV Munich. Founding members were associations from Munich, Prien and Schrobenhausen . The founding chairman was Alois Brand (Munich).

The seat and office is in Munich . The BBV is divided into 6 districts (Upper Bavaria, Swabia, Lower Bavaria / Upper Palatinate, Middle Franconia, Upper Franconia and Lower Franconia). The Bavarian Badminton Association, along with the state badminton associations of Baden-Württemberg and Saxony, is part of the "South East Group" of the German Badminton Association . In competitive sports, the Bavarian Badminton Association (BBV) operates the “Bayernliga Nord” and “Bayernliga Süd” as the highest league in the Bavarian regional association and the fourth highest league in the DBV.

Task of the BBV districts

  • to unite all clubs practicing badminton in the district and to serve their legitimate interests,
  • to carry out scheduled game operations, championships and tournaments in accordance with the applicable regulations,
  • To ensure the training and further education of active players, coaches, trainers, referees and officials,
  • to ensure a uniform interpretation of the rules and regulations for all badminton clubs,
  • to maintain the connection to the BBV
  • to present the badminton sport in the district to the public through the press, radio and television to promote it.
