Bayern Design GmbH is a company for design, architecture and advertising with headquarters in Nuremberg and an office in Munich.

Bayern Design GmbH was founded in 2001 by the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy and Technology and was mainly funded by it. The Bayern Design Forum eV association and the City of Nuremberg are contributing further funds.

The Bayern Design Forum e. V. was founded in 1987. Members include Bavarian companies, agencies, chambers of commerce, associations and freelancers. In addition to entrepreneurs, many Bavarian chambers of industry and commerce are represented on the board.

Fields of activity

Bayern Design provides information on current trends, topics and the economic factor of design in business forums, international platforms, in lectures, with exhibitions and at trade fair appearances. Bayern Design also advises on issues relating to state funding for design.

Bayern Design is the host of the Munich Creative Business Week (MCBW), Germany's largest design event, which takes place once a year in Munich. In 2018 over 70,000 international visitors came to the MCBW. The aim of the design week is to sensitize visitors to design and its social, cultural and economic significance on an international level. In the past few years the MCBW has become an important attraction for designers, architects, business representatives and companies.

Bayern Design uses its network to establish contacts between entrepreneurs and creative minds, chambers of commerce, associations and educational institutions. Those interested in design can get to know each other at events, in workshops, discussion groups or on network platforms.

Bayern Design also initiates exhibitions, trade fairs and exchange programs in cooperation with partners abroad, through which design, architecture and brands from Bavaria become internationally known and designers and architects from the Free State can network with international players.
