Be-Bop High School ( Japanese ビ ー ・ バ ッ プ ・ ハ イ ス ク ー ル ) is a manga series by the Japanese manga artist Kazuhiro Kiuchi , which was published in Japan from 1983 to 2003. The series was adapted in the form of six films, two original video animations and another manga , among other things .

content

The plot of the manga and anime revolves around the two high school students Hiroshi Katō and Toru Nakama. The two are always looking for a fight and a change in the dreary everyday school life. They mock the principal and target pretty girls. They are easy to recognize by their lard rolls .

publication

The manga appeared from 1983 to 2003 in the manga magazine Young Magazine published by Kodansha . This also published the chapters in 48 edited volumes.

In 1990 an offshoot was published that was drawn by Memeoka Manhiru . Kodansha published six volumes under the title Be-Bop Kaizokuban .

Adaptations

Real films

From 1985 to 1988 six real films were produced for the series. Another film followed in 1994. In 2004 and 2005, TBS also broadcast a television series based on the manga.

Animes

In the 1990s two OVA series with three and seven episodes were produced, both by Toei Animation . The three episodes of Be-Bop Kaizokuban were released from March 22, 1991 to June 25, 1993.

The first episode of Be-Bop High School was released on January 26, 1990, the last on March 21, 1995. Directed by the 45-minute long episodes were Hiroyuki Kakudō and Toshihiko Arisako. Junichi Hayama was responsible for character design and artistic direction. Ginjiro Ito composed the music.

Video game

In 1988, Data East released a game entitled Be-Bop High School: Koukousei Gokuraku Densetsu ( ビ ー バ ッ プ ハ イ ス ク ー ル 高校 生 極 楽 伝 説 , Gokuraku legendary high school Bi-Bappu Hai Sukuru ) for the Nintendo Family Computer.
