Beaumont Castle
Beaumont Castle is an Outbound castle in the village Mixbury in the English county of Oxfordshire .
history
Beaumont Castle was probably a moth or a ringwork. The castle was probably built by Roger d'Ivry after the Norman conquest of England . The castle was probably called “Beaumont” (English: “Beautiful Mountain”) because it was built on a natural rocky promontory over a local watercourse. The castle was abandoned before 1216.
Private excavations by two London brothers in 1954 and 1955 unearthed remains of a torture chamber and an underground passage. However, these discoveries are doubted by experts.
