Bedruthan Steps at low tide

As The Scarlet a spectacular clip formation is a plurality of free-standing rocks on the north coast of Cornwall between the villages Newquay and Padstow in the south west of England , respectively. The bay, which is only accessible at low tide, can be reached via a steep staircase maintained by the National Trust . However, because of the massive waves, swimming is not recommended. Those who do not want to descend into the bay can enjoy the panoramic view from the hiking trail along the cliffs.

The name Bedruthan Steps arose from the idea that the giant Bedruthan (English mythology) used the large stones as stairs. Some of the rocks have nicknames; one is called Queen Bess , another Samaritan after a ship full of wool and silk that sank here in 1846.
