Beerenburg

Beerenburg is a herbal spirit based on genever . The alcohol content is around 30 % by volume . The Beerenburg is now considered a West Frisian specialty, although the original Beerenburg was prepared from the middle of the 17th century according to a secret recipe from the Amsterdam herbalist Hendrik Beerenburg.

The names Berenburg (with an e) and Beerenburger are used by some brands with a different recipe.
