The Fortified Room No. 22 Karelia. (: Укрепрайон Карельский;;; Карельский укрепленный район КаУР Kaur Russian) was a 60-km wide fortified district of the Soviet Union in the north of Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg). 1941-1944 and 1950-1965 in the Soviet part of the Karelian Isthmus alongside other fortified areas (including the Stalin Line ) established around this time to defend the western borders of the Soviet Union. Fortified room No. 22 (KaUR) spans the old Finno-Russian border from Valkeasaari on the north bank of the Gulf of Finland via Lempaala to Nizhniye Nikulyasy Bay on the west bank of Lake Ladoga .
