Behemoth (bicycle)
BEHEMOTH (Abbreviation for B ig E lectronic H uman- E nergized M achine ... O nly T oo H eavy) is one of the three computerized recumbent bicycles that Steven K. Roberts of Nomadic Research Labs used to tour the United States . Over 17,000 miles have been ridden on a bicycle . According to other sources, only 1,000 miles of 17,000 miles of the entire adventure trip were covered on this bike. The recumbent bike weighs 263 kg and was 1.2 million US dollars expensive.
The wheel is an autonomous mobile information and communication platform that is connected via a satellite connection and is operated solely by muscle power and solar energy. Roberts was able to operate a handlebar-mounted keyboard while driving.
Predecessors were the recumbent bikes Winnebiko and Winnebiko II .
The name alludes to the biblical monster Behemoth . The bike has been on loan to the Computer History Museum since September 2000 .
