Beijing International Book Fair

The Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) (Chin. 北京 国际 图书 博览会 / 北京 國際 圖書 博覽會 Běijīng guójì túshū bólǎnhuì) is the largest book fair in China and one of the most important book fairs in Asia. It has existed since 1986.

In 2011 the fair comprised 2,155 stands. Over 2000 publishers, both from China and other countries, took part. The fair had around 200,000 visitors.

Host countries

Since 2005, one guest country has appeared at the Beijing International Bookfair . The respective host country suggests three well-known representatives who will be awarded the Chinese Book Prize for special merits .

German presence

In 2005, a joint German stand showed around 1,000 books, including the special collection of the away game for the 2006 World Cup with two table football devices. The stand was organized by the Frankfurt Book Fair with the support of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Labor .

In 2007 Germany hosted a competition for German book designers ( Best of Unpublished German Bookdesign ). The competition was organized by the Frankfurt Book Fair and the Hermann Schmidt Mainz publishing house with funding from the Federal Foreign Office and the Federal Ministry of Economics and Labor.
