The storage recess is an optional design feature of workbenches . It describes a recess in the back of the work surface.

The attachment is used for

  • Holds tools and smaller pieces of material
  • Storage of tools so that they do not conflict with the workpiece on the work surface
  • Pick up of chips

Disadvantages of the attachment are a reduction in the actual work surface and the possibility of workpieces slipping into the attachment.
