Deztroyer was a German thrash metal band from Darmstadt that was founded in 1986 and disbanded in 1991.

history

At the end of 1985 guitarist Uwe Becker and bassist Christoph "Stripe" Schinzel founded the band Destroyer together with drummer Matthias Röseler, singer Ralf Couard . In 1988 the band changed their name to Deztroyer . Since many members were still active in other bands during this time, they only rehearsed together irregularly. At the beginning of April 1986 guitarist Becker seriously injured his left hand, so the band had to take a break for the time being. When Becker had completely recovered, he re-formed the band with Schinzel. In August 1986, Markus Gnap, a new drummer, joined the band. On September 2, 1986 they held the first real rehearsal session together with singer Pete Kulp. In the following years they played various appearances in this line-up. During this time there was also hardly any "Eddie" Smith as the band's second guitarist.

In July 1989, Jens Gellner, a new drummer, joined the band. Gellner replaced Markus Gnap, who left the band for personal reasons and joined the band Disbelief a short time later . As a result, the band held gigs with Hades , Midas Touch, Vendetta , Deathrow , Squealer , Erosion , Emils , Die Arschgebuiden and Devastate . In November 1989 the band went into the studio to make some promotional recordings. In September 1990, the band then recorded their debut album called Climate Change in the Delta Studios , where Accept and Lou Reed have already recorded sound carriers . The album was only released with an edition of 100 copies. In the summer of 1991 the band split up.

style

The band plays technically demanding Thrash Metal, reminiscent of that from the San Francisco Bay Area . The band is compared with other bands in the genre such as Deathrow, Drifter , Lääz Rockit and Destruction .
