Vendetta is a Bavarian thrash metal band from Schweinfurt , which was founded in 1984, disbanded in 1990 and reunited in 2002.

history

The band was formed in 1984. After the release of two demos, the debut album Go and Live… Stay and Die followed in 1987, which was followed in 1988 by Brain Damage . After a tour together with Tankard , Helstar and Sodom , appearances with bands like Kreator , Destruction , Overkill and Metal Church followed . In 1990 the band broke up for the time being.

The band has been active again since 2002, although only bassist Heiner from the previous line-up remained. For the rights to their recordings, the band had to hire a lawyer for what they say was a long legal battle. In 2007 the album Hate was released on Metal Ax Records . After that, the group reached a contract with Massacre Records . The band went to Unisound Studio with Dan Swanö to record Feed the Extermination , which was released in December 2011.

style

The band played classic speed and thrash metal in their earlier days . Micky Wehner's singing was described as a mixture of Kai Hansen and Dirk Schröder ( Iron Angel ). The debut album “is bursting with breaks , fast parts, cutting guitar riffs and loads of solos ”, with Siebi from Heavyhardes.de particularly emphasizing the numerous breaks, “which has been seen in this form by a young band to date (1987) with the exception of the almost at the same time did not get to hear the emerging paradox . Okay, let's leave Mekong Delta and their debut aside, because they had a completely different musical approach, namely combining classical music with extreme metal . Vendetta were more Metal in the traditional sense […]. ”The album was also compared to the early works of Metallica and emphasized that the band processed as many riffs in one song as others on an entire album.

The second album Brain Damage has also been compared to Metallica's early works; "Especially in the staccator riffing with the melodic lick runs above it shows a similar understanding of music"; there were also comparisons with the Sacred Empire . Some of the pieces were “even more complicated and tricky” and sounded “almost progressive […]. In addition, there was also more emphasis on catchy melodies and guitar harmonies, which in places reduced the tempo a bit. "

The demo recordings between the reunification and the album Hate "embodied the classic Vendetta sound" with a simultaneous modern orientation; However, the band announced that they had changed a lot after the demo recordings, the new album sounds like a mixture of old metal and new elements. Influences from Groove Metal have been clearly audible since Hate , with bands like Machine Head , Pantera , Dearly Beheaded and Am I Blood being named. The style of the band also differs from previous releases by the singing of Mario Vogel, who is less melodic than Wehner and more in the direction of shouting .

The band deals with political and socially critical issues in their lyrics .
