Dearly Beheaded was a groove metal band from Manchester , England formed in 1993.

history

The band was formed in 1993 by guitarist Steve Owens, drummer Rob Ryan and bassist Tim Lyons Preston. Singer Alex Creamer and guitarist Darren Hough joined the band a short time later. Together they recorded their first demo We the Unwilling and released it in 1993. This was followed by several concerts and an appearance on the Friday Rock Show on the BBC . The band won the Best Unsigned Act Contest on MTV and achieved a contract with the East West Records label . The recording of the first EP began. Shortly before the EP was released, there were disagreements between the label and the band. On the cover of the EP a head separated from the body should be shown and the label also tried to fill the post of drummer. The band split from the label, although all tracks for the EP have already been recorded.

The band signed a contract with Music for Nations and released In a Darkened Room in 1995 on this label. This was followed by a tour together with Extreme Noise Terror .

The first album called Temptation was produced by Colin Richardson and mixed with ex- Sabbat - or - Godsend guitarist Andy Sneap . Drummer Ryan left the band that same year and was replaced by Simon Dawson. The album was released in 1996 via Music for Nations.

The second album Chamber of One was released in 1997. Guitarist Phil Stevens was no longer heard on this album, but was replaced by ex- Critical Mass guitarist Darren Hough. Colin Richardson took over the production again.

Due to the lack of commercial success and little support from the label, the band broke up in 1997.

Activities after the breakup

In 2000 Preston, Owens and Hough formed a new band called Sleath with singer Darren Hircock and drummer Charly Moniz. In 2005 Preston joined the band City of God , which consists of singer Simon Gordon (ex- Rawhead , ex- Xentrix ), drummer Jeff Singer (ex- Paradise Lost , ex- Blaze ), and guitarist Mark Mynett (ex- Kill II This ) duration.

style

On their Myspace page, the band lists Black Sabbath , Celtic Frost , Metallica , Crowbar , Slayer , Fear Factory , Machine Head and Corrosion of Conformity . The works are compared with those of Pantera . The aggressiveness of the pieces is particularly characteristic.
