Blaze Bayley (until March 2007 Blaze ) is a classic heavy metal / power metal band formed in 1999 by the British singer of the same name, Blaze Bayley . Bayley was previously the vocalist for Iron Maiden and Wolfsbane . The style was much more modern than that of Iron Maiden and is comparable to the solo projects of Bruce Dickinson , Bayley's predecessor and successor to Iron Maiden.

history

In addition to Bayley, Steve Wray and John Slater ( guitar ), Rob Naylor on electric bass and Jeff Singer ( drums ) were among the founding members of the band.

With this line-up, the band produced their debut album Silicon Messiah in 2000, a dark, classically composed and very powerfully produced album, the content of which deals with the omega point and the mechanization of almost all living conditions. Bayley originally composed some of the songs on this album for a new album together with Iron Maiden, which however did not materialize due to his release in 1999.

Two years later, "Tenth Dimension" was released, a concept album that revolves around an imaginary scientist who develops a super weapon for the Americans and realizes too late what horror he has brought into the world. Blaze Bayley openly admits that he was heavily inspired by the story of Robert Oppenheimer for this album .

In 2003 the double CD As live as it gets was released with songs from both Blaze and Iron Maiden and even from the Wolfsbane era.

A line-up change took place at the end of 2003. Naylor and Singer left the band and were replaced by bassist Wayne Banks and drummer Jason Bowld.

This formation is responsible for Blood and Belief , also released in 2004 , a dark and very personal album about the lead singer's personal problems, his alcohol addiction and his phase of self-discovery.

In September 2004 the band members changed again, this time completely. With that, all founding members of the band have been replaced except for Blaze Bayley himself. The new line-up consists of Oliver Palotai and Luca Princiotta on guitar as well as Christian Ammann on electric bass and drummer Daniel Schild.

In November 2006, Blaze Bayley and the band split due to "irreconcilable differences" with the way the new management worked.

The new line-up was announced in March 2007, and the band is now working under the name "Blaze Bayley". In July 2008 the new album The Man Who Would Not Die was released . The latest album Promise and Terror was released on February 1, 2010 with the same line-up . Many of the lyrics are marked by the death of Bayley's wife Debbie. The second part of the album deals with the themes of personal grief, loss and pain, while the first part of the album is more optimistic.

On May 21st, Blaze Bayley announced on his homepage that Larry Paterson (drums) and the manager Anna have left Blaze Bayley Camp. Blaze Bayley found a temporary replacement drummer in Claudio Tirincanti.
