Bel & Main Vienna
Bel & Main Vienna (original spelling : BEL & MAIN Vienna ) is an urban development project consisting of several buildings in the new Belvedere district near Vienna's main train station .
history
The new Vienna Central Station, which connects the southern, eastern and Laaer Ostbahn, was built on the site of the former southern station. At the same time, two new districts are being created here - the Belvedere quarter and the Sonnwendviertel. The Bel & Main Vienna is being built at the Quartier Belvedere site. Originally the property belonged to Erste Bank, which requested a concept for the development structure in the course of the sale in 2013. The developer BAI emerged as the best bidder from the tender process and was awarded the contract. In 2017 the project “Wohnen am Schweizergarten” was acquired by Signa and subsequently - inspired by the location between Belvedere Palace and the “Main Station” at the main train station - renamed Bel & Main Vienna. Originally the development was conceived as a pure residential project. Ultimately, since the start of construction in 2018, on a construction site in the size of approx. 11,000 m² a mixed-use building complex, consisting of four structures - two residential high-rises, an office building and a hotel - with a gross floor area of approx. 64,000 m². Completion is scheduled for the beginning of 2021.
All components were sold in 2018 and 2019. Investors are the Bavarian Supply Chamber (BVK) , the Bavarian Insurance Chamber (VKB) and an Austrian investor who has acquired the office tower rented by Erste Bank and the Adina Hotel.

The property is in the immediate vicinity of Vienna's main train station on the corner of Arsenalstrasse and Canettistrasse between the Erste Bank campus and the ANdAZ Vienna Am Belvedere hotel or the Parkapartments am Belvedere . On the other side of Arsenalstrasse - directly opposite - is the Belvedere21 Museum (in front of the 21er Haus).
architecture
A consortium made up of internationally renowned teams of architects from Delugan Meissl Associated Architects DMAA , Coop Himmelb (l) au and Architektur Consult is responsible for the planning of Bel & Main Vienna . The residential tower comprising 209 rental apartments - called Bel & Main Residences -, the hotel operated by Adina and the Erste Tower were designed by DMAA. The “BelView Apartments” tower planned by Coop Himmelb (l) au with 249 rental apartments stands out due to its kidney-shaped geometry. The flanks of the building are curved and swiveled back in order - according to the architects - to communicate with the neighboring buildings, the Erste Campus by Henke & Schreieck and the "Hotel Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere". The frontal view of the opposite buildings is avoided by the angling. Inside, a courtyard area is designed as open space for all buildings. The individual structures are connected by an underground car park with 400 parking spaces.
