Belalp witch

Since 1983, different ski races have been held every year on the Belalp in the canton of Valais under the name Belalp Hexe . The most traditional and important people 's ski race is the Witches' Downhill with more than 1500 participants. With its 12 kilometers and an altitude difference of 1,800 meters in altitude, their race track is considered to be physically challenging. In addition to the amateur racer, there is also the “witch” category, in which the skiers start dressed as witches. The focus here is more on fun than the actual driving time, and there are also sociable breaks in the race. The witch groups are also judged by a jury based on their appearance and appearance. There will be other races as part of the Belalp Hexe. The Belalp Derby is a Super G race organized by the Belalp Ski Club. The Mini-Maxi-Witch is a race in which children and adults form a team together.

The Belalp Hexe is one of the “ Super Three ”, the three largest popular ski runs in Switzerland. The other two are the Inferno in Mürren and the Allalin run in Saas-Fee .

A diverse supporting program is organized around the races. The Witches Nights are one of the largest après ski parties in Switzerland and attract several thousand party guests.

Witches descent

The route begins at Hohstock ( 3112  m above sea level ) and ends in Blatten near Naters ( 1322  m above sea level ). It has a length of 12 km and an altitude difference of 1800 m. The route is partly identical to the existing ski slope. The route is sometimes changed in exceptional circumstances.
