history

The first contribution to the Belarusian-language Wikipedia took place in August 2006, in March 2008 the 10,000 article was published, in August 2015 100,000 articles were public.

bilingualism

The Belarusian-language Wikipedia consists of two versions with different spellings. One version uses the current Belarusian spelling ( narkomowka ; prefix be:) , while the other uses the classic old spelling ( Taraschkewiza ; prefix be-tarask:, formerly be-x-old:) .

Originally, the Belarusian-language Wikipedia was created in a mixed form of both spelling variants. In 2007, articles in Tarashkewitsa were moved to a separate language version. Wikipedia currently has almost 160,000 articles on Narkomowka . The Wikipedia on Tarashkewitsa has a smaller inventory with more than 65,000 articles (as of December 26, 2018).

Range

Typically, Belarusian Internet users access the Russian-language Wikipedia , 88 percent of the inquiries go there; around 9% are accounted for by the English language - accordingly, only 1.2% of the inquiries remain for the Belarusian language Wikipedia.
