Belfry in Crecy-la-Chapelle

The belfry in Crécy-la-Chapelle , a French commune in the Seine-et-Marne department in the Île-de-France region , was built in 1865. The belfry is on rue du Marché .

The polygonal tower at the former Porte de Meaux made of brickwork and stone was built on the substructure of a tower of the city fortifications from the 12th century. It was built for the public clock, as the town hall with the clock was demolished shortly before. It also houses the oldest bell in the area, dating from 1624.
