history

The forest on the Worskla nature reserve existed in the Belgorod Oblast even before 1999 and consisted of two parts: the actual forest on the Worskla and Ostrasjewy Jary. There was also the Central Black Earth Nature Reserve, divided into three areas, with the Jamskaya steppe, Stenki Isgorja and Lysyje Gory (other parts of this reserve are in the Kursk Oblast ). These three areas were connected to the forest on the Worskla in 1999. After unification, the nature reserve was named Belogorje because of the white chalk cliffs.
