Beltrami, also called Beltrami neighborhood , is a northern district of Minneapolis, which is in the metropolitan area of ​​Minneapolis-Saint Paul . The neighborhood is bordered by Broadway Street to the north, Interstate 35W to the east, Harrison Street to the west, and Central East Hennepin Avenue to the south. Naming

The district is named after the Italian explorer, lawyer and writer Giacomo Beltrami , who traveled to what is now Minnesota in 1823 and lived with the Sioux for a few months .

Demographic data

Beltrami's ethnic makeup has changed a lot since 1980. The proportion of the white population has decreased from 92 percent of the population to 61 percent during this period. At the same time, the other ethnic group have increased significantly. 24 percent of Beltrami's residents live below the poverty line compared to 17 percent of Minneapolis residents.
