Benguela Diamonds is a South African brand of diamonds extracted from the Benguela Current .

Extraction

Benguela Diamonds mines and sells diamonds extracted from the seabed. The company has a beach concession and a private ocean concession on the west coast of South Africa, in and around Port Nolloth and Alexander Bay . The diamonds are sorted out of gravel from the seabed, which is brought to the surface by divers. On the seabed, trained divers use suction pipes to pump the gravel into a classifier. Here larger stones such as grenades, olivines and diamonds are separated from the gravel with the help of a vibrator.

Benguela Diamonds also runs its own diamond cutting shop, as well as a goldsmith's and jewelry design studio in Stellenbosch .

Diamond safari

In addition to the main business, the company also offers an "Ocean Diamond Safari" from Cape Town. On such a safari, guests can follow the process of diamond extraction, from extraction by divers on the seabed to polishing and processing into a piece of jewelry.
