The Benson Idahosa University is a private Christian university in Benin City , Nigeria .

It was named after the first Pentecostal Archbishop of Nigeria Benson Idahosa (1938-1998), who had his official residence in Benin City. The university is committed to the evangelistic code as preached by Benson Idahosa throughout his life. Its current president is Reverend FEB Idahosa, the son of the bishop, pastor of the Church of God Mission International, also founded by Benson Idahosa .

In 2002 it was approved as a university by the National Universities Commission . In 2005 it had a total of 1,916 students, in 2007 there were 2,212 students, and 2,864 in 2017. For the year 2011/2012, the university was quoted the allocation of 1,260 study places.

Benson Idahosa University has close ties with Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA.
