Dibenzopyrylium perchlorate

In chemistry, benzopyrylium salts are a group of cyclic (ring-shaped) oxonium salts . Formally, they are derived from chromones into which another double bond has been introduced.

synthesis

The reaction of Grignard compounds with chromone and subsequent hydrolysis produces an alcohol. Its reaction with strong acids yields benzopyrylium salts of the acid used with elimination of water . From pyrans is obtained analogously pyrylium .
