Cleanup session

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The final meeting of a budget committee in the process of drawing up a budget for a public budget is referred to as the adjustment meeting .

After the draft budget has been referred to the committee, the draft is usually discussed in detail in several meetings, broken down into individual plans. The final vote then takes place in the adjustment meeting, in which points and motions that were left open in the previous meetings are finally discussed and coordinated. After this adjustment, the amended and decision-ready draft is then forwarded to parliament for a decision.

Due to the large number of detailed problems, clean-up meetings often take significantly longer than normal committee meetings and some of them last well into the night.

In the case of the federal budget for the Federal Republic of Germany , the second and third readings then take place in parliament. The deliberation of the government draft at first reading with general debate and final round took place, for example, in the week of September 9th to 13th in autumn 2019, and a tax estimate for the budget year was then also available at the adjustment meeting in November .
