The Berlin Observer was an English-language troop newspaper that was published by the US Army as a weekly newspaper for the American troops stationed in Berlin (the Berlin Brigade ) and their families . The first edition appeared on July 28, 1945 (initially under the name The Grooper ), the last edition appeared with the withdrawal of the American troops from Berlin on July 15, 1994.

The newspaper contained reports on the everyday life of the American community in Berlin, news from the various units, location information, information on events both within the community and in the city, sports reports and the television programs of the American Forces Network and the British Forces Broadcasting Service .

In a similar way, the French published the half-monthly La Gazette de Berlin from the Service de Presse et d'Information since 1964 , and the weekly Berlin Bulletin in the British sector from 1946 to 1994 .
