Bernhard Prokisch

Bernhard Prokisch (born September 1, 1957 in Linz ) is an Austrian art historian and numismatist .

Life

Bernhard Prokisch studied art history and archeology at the University of Vienna . In 1992 he came to Upper Austria in Linz. State Museum. He is head of the cultural studies department, head of the numismatics, customs and financial history of the Upper Austrian state museums . He is a private lecturer in numismatics at the University of Vienna.

After Gerda Ridler's departure, Prokisch has been the interim Scientific Director of Upper Austria since February 2018 . State museums (Linz Castle Museum, State Gallery, etc.).

He is the author of several publications, specialist articles and exhibition catalogs. He was awarded the Wolfgang Hahn Medal in 2014.
