Berend "Bert" de Vries (born March 29, 1938 in Groningen ) is a Dutch politician of the Christians Democratisch Appèl (CDA).

Life

Vries studied at the University of Groningen . From November 7, 1989 to August 22, 1994, de Vries was Minister for Social Affairs and Employment in the Lubbers III cabinet . From 2001 to 2002 he was the successor to Marnix van Rij party chairman of the CDA. From 1978 to 1998 Vries was a member of the Second Chamber of the States General . Vries is married to Dieuwke van der Helm.
