Social year preparatory to work

The vocational preparatory social year (BSJ) of the Lebenshilfe for people with intellectual disabilities is an orientation year between school, training and work. It is based on the legislation of the Voluntary Social Year .

People between 16 and 26 years of age test their preparation for the future world of work. You will be instructed by long-term, professionally experienced employees of Lebenshilfe . The BSJ offers the opportunity to gain experience in everyday working life and to prepare for work, training or studies in a practical way.

Focus

The BSJ students are practically involved with the following specialist areas:

  • Advice and services: Personal assistance for children, adolescents and adults with disabilities in family, school and leisure time
  • Housing: Support in everyday life for people with disabilities with educational, supervisory or household work.
  • Work: Support for people with disabilities in the world of work.
  • Day-care centers for children and schools: Supporting activities in special educational and integrative day-care centers for children, support for individual children in schools.
  • Education, leisure and sport, art and culture: Supporting people with disabilities to participate in community life.
  • Travel accompaniment and support: Accompanying and supporting people with disabilities in educational measures and recreational trips at home and abroad.

requirements

The only prerequisites are completion of compulsory schooling and an interest in supporting people with intellectual disabilities. The BSJ is an employment relationship subject to social insurance with at least 26 days of vacation and a monthly remuneration of 401 euros (net). Over a period of 12 months (other periods are also possible upon request), the participants receive a qualified introduction to the practice, professional support and training lasting several days. Finally, a certificate and a certificate of completion are presented.
