Career choice pass

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The career choice pass is a structuring instrument for the individual career orientation process of the students . The career choice pass serves as learning and working material for organizing, reflecting on and documenting the career orientation process. With its help, the process of career orientation from grade 7 to school leaving should be structured, plannable and transparent for the individual student, for the school and also for the parents .

purpose

With the changes in the professional and working world in recent years, the questions and problems of young people at the transition from school to the professional and working world have changed. In the context of these changes and challenges, the goals and tasks of school career orientation have been redefined. These go far beyond career orientation as “career choice aid and application training”. Career orientation at school should be designed as a process aimed at lifelong career choice skills. The central concern is the successful organization of life with employment in the center. With the career choice pass, an instrument has been developed that is intended to meet these requirements and is therefore intended to be a tool for contemporary career orientation. Based on an understanding of career orientation as part of individual life planning, the career choice pass is understood as a bracket for all activities and offers in this area and at the same time as a structuring agent for the individual orientation process. Starting with thinking about personal interests, strengths and skills, developing visions for the future and the theoretical and practical approach to job profiles, to planning the transition from school to working life, the career choice pass is intended as a work and documentation tool for students from grade 7 to Accompany leaving school.

development

The career choice pass is an instrument used in 13 federal states (Berlin, Brandenburg, Bremen, Hamburg, Hesse, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein, Thuringia) of the federal project "School-Economy / Working Life" was developed and tested. The federal states, organized in the federal working group Berufswahlpass, are working together on establishing the career choice pass as an instrument with recognition effect in schools, in the school inspectorate, with partners outside of school and in business. The Federal Employment Agency supports this work and prefers the career choice pass over other portfolios in this area. Since the beginning of the 2013/2014 school year there has been a special NRW career choice pass .

Use of career choice pass

The target group of the career choice pass are students of general education schools from grade 7 upwards. The use of the career choice pass is directed by the school. In addition to the school and teachers, supporting actors are parents and extracurricular partners (companies, project management agencies, career counseling).

The coordination of the work with the career choice pass requires internal coordination of the teachers and cooperation partners. The basis is the school's own vocational orientation concepts, which bring together all offers, measures and content of professional orientation in a targeted manner. The teachers are supposed to advise and support the students from grade 7 on using the career passport. Work with the career choice pass takes place in specialist lessons, in subject-related units and in extra-curricular activities. The career choice pass is not an additional project, but a structuring agent and documentation tool for the existing content and measures in career orientation.

With the career choice pass, parents receive insights into their child's progress in the career orientation process and the opportunity to actively support them. The career choice pass is intended to help systematically involve parents in the career orientation process. The career choice pass should also help to improve cooperation with partners outside of school. Careers advisors, project management agencies and companies should be able to design their own career orientation offers with the help of the passport and have the corresponding results and experiences of the students secured in the passport.
