As loader or transfer device one is construction machine called that for uninterrupted supply of asphalt pavers with asphalt mix is used. For this purpose, the feeder is placed between the asphalt paver and the tipper vehicle . The mix is temporarily buffered in the receiving container and continuously passed on to the paver via a conveyor belt that can be heated if necessary . In this way, the performance of the asphalt paver can be optimized, since a continuous work process is achieved. In addition, shocks that occur when the truck hits the paver receptacle and can thus impair the longitudinal evenness of the new road are significantly reduced.

Feeders can be equipped with wheel or chain drives. The conveyor belt is rigid or movable (for lateral material transfer).

In Germany, the use of a feeder on federal trunk roads is usually contractually required.
