Longitudinal evenness

The longitudinal flatness is the flatness of roads and paths in the longitudinal direction and is therefore a sign of quality in road construction. Excessive deviations from the longitudinal evenness have a decisive effect on the driving comfort and driving safety of the motor vehicle. Furthermore, the stress on the pavement is increasing due to unevenness in the longitudinal direction.

The longitudinal evenness can be measured either when a newly built road pavement is inspected or it can be used to assess an existing pavement.
