Weight down (silk)
Complaining has two meanings in textile technology:
Weighing down natural silk
By weighting down, also known as making it difficult, the weight loss caused by natural silk is replenished by metal salts .
Weighting down other tissues
With the mostly non-washable finishes of cotton and viscose fabrics, weighting improves the fabric grip and simulates a heavier or denser fabric. This is done by filling with glue or starch preparations or with organic colloids . However, this technique was already in decline in the 1990s.
