Special training trip
The special training trips, known colloquially as special trips or hours, are part of German driver training . They are driving lessons under prescribed conditions that have to be carried out after the basic training. In detail there are:
- Overland journeys on federal or country roads
- Motorway trips. They may also highway-like -developed power driveways are performed.
- Twilight or dark driving. At least half of these must be carried out on motorways, federal highways or country roads.
How many hours of each type are required depends on the driver's license class .
The mandatory requirement of a minimum number of hours, night and motorway journeys were introduced by the student driver training regulations from May 1976, since the number of accidents among novice drivers in the situations covered was above average.
