The Funeral Museum at Vienna's Central Cemetery , formerly Funeral Museum Vienna , is located on the Central Cemetery in the 11th district of Vienna , Simmering , in the basement of the existing at the main entrance mortuary 2. It is managed by B & F Vienna - Funeral and Cemeteries GmbH , a company owned by the Vienna City Administration, operated. The newly designed museum by ARGE OMS and checkpointmedia with the architect Gustav Pichelmann has been open since October 13, 2014.

The museum, founded in 1967, was previously located in the former burial headquarters at Goldegggasse 4 in Vienna's 4th district of Wieden ( Lage ) until September 2013 .

The funeral museum includes around a thousand exhibits from the funeral world ( coffins , carts, grave digging equipment, etc.). It is one of the sights that deal with the Viennese cult of the dead; others are the Kaisergruft , the Michaelergruft under the Michaelerkirche , the cemetery of the nameless and the former St. Marxer Friedhof .
