Bettina Volkens (born June 15, 1963 ) is a German manager . From July 1, 2013 to December 31, 2019, she was a member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG and, as Labor Director, was responsible for the areas of Human Resources and Legal.

Career

Volkens studied law at the University of Göttingen . She started her professional career in 1994 as a research assistant at the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety in Berlin. From 1995 to 1997 she worked as a lawyer. In 1997 she moved to Deutsche Bahn AG as in-house counsel . In 2006 she was appointed member of the HR management board of DB Regio AG at Deutsche Bahn . In 2012 she then moved to Deutsche Lufthansa AG , where she has been a member of the Executive Board since July 1, 2013. On December 3, 2019 Lufthansa announced that Volkens would be leaving the company on December 31 "by mutual agreement".

Volkens is actively committed to equal rights and more female employees, especially female pilots. She is also committed to protecting female employees from sexual harassment.

Private

Bettina Volkens is married and has two children, whom she occasionally brings to work.
