The District Court of Leonfelden was a district court in the municipality of Bad Leonfelden , Urfahr-Umgebung district ( Upper Austria ). The district court responsible for the judicial district of Leonfelden existed from 1850 to 2012. The two former court seats with the address Böhmer Straße 1 and Linzer Straße 26, 26a are under monument protection.

history

On May 10, 1850, the previous princely and patrimonial courts were obliged by a decree of the kk Oberlandesgericht Linz to hand over the judicial business to the newly appointed sovereign courts. The newly created Leonfelden District Court was instructed to start its business on June 13, 1850, with the exclave of the Freistadt District Court around Schenkenfelden, the western part of the District Court, for the “Leonfelden judicial district”, ie the northeastern part of the now dissolved Wachsenberg District Court Waldenfels and a small part of the Haus um Reichenau district court in the Mühlkreis. At the Leonfelden district court, at the time of its establishment, it was a district court II class. This meant that the superior district collegial court Rohrbach was responsible for offenses as a criminal court. The Linz Regional Court served as an appeal court, court of appeal, civil, collegial and commercial court for Leonfelden . The District Court of Leonfelden was subordinate to the Regional Court of Linz until its dissolution, whereby the District Court had to cease its activities on December 31, 2012.

Buildings

Until 1912, the district court was housed in what is now the Bad Leonfelden School Museum, which is located at Böhmer Strasse 1. The building is located within the former wall ring and was erected in 1577. The house served as a school until 1850 and in 1850 it became the seat of the district court. It fulfilled its function as a district court until the new courthouse was built; since 1988 it has housed the school museum. The building itself is a two-storey structure with shoulder-arched portals, which was raised to its current height in 1785. Inside it has vaults designed as barrel or lance-cap barrels, the latter dating from the 17th century. In one room of the school museum there is a Riemling ceiling above armor tree, which is also supported by a stone pillar. The iron doors of the chimneys date from the 18th century.

Around 1912 the district court moved into a district court and police building built at the beginning of the 20th century. The mighty, two-storey U-shaped building with a hipped roof has a late-historical facade with a pronounced central projection. The facade was further structured by pilaster strips, a round gable over the portal axis, secessionist vases and an imperial and royal coat of arms. The former prison of Bad Leonfelden is also located behind the building.
