The District Hospital Parsberg (BKP) is a Medbo facility and is sponsored by the District of Upper Palatinate . Two clinics are located at the BKP:

Until 2018, there was a nursing home for the mentally ill at the Parsberg District Hospital , which was moved to the Wöllershof District Hospital .

Legal basis of the institutions of the penal system at the BKP

The Clinic for Forensic Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the Parsberg District Hospital is a so-called penal institution . This treats people who have become criminals due to a psychological and / or addictive illness and who have committed their crimes in a state of reduced guilt or a state of incapacity. Sections 63 and 64 of the Criminal Code are relevant for this .

In the department for young drug addicts at the Parsberg District Hospital, young offenders can undergo addiction therapy instead of serving their prison sentence in a correctional facility . The assignment to the clinic is based on a court order.

The forensic outpatient clinic offers discharged patients a point of contact and permanent follow-up care.

The clinic for pulmonary and bronchial medicine at the Parsberg District Hospital treats patients with infectious tuberculosis (TB) who do not understand the disease and is the only one of its kind in the whole of Germany. Patients are only admitted with a judicial briefing. The basis is §30 Infection Protection Act, which regulates the closed accommodation of patients with infectious diseases.

The clinic for pulmonary and bronchial medicine also carries out outpatient diagnosis and treatment of allergic diseases.

The Upper Palatinate district is responsible for the Clinic for Forensic Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, the Clinic for Lung and Bronchial Medicine and the Forensic Outpatient Clinic.
