The Schomre Schabos synagogue in Český Těšín (German Teschen , Polish Czeski Cieszyn ), a city in the Czech Republic (it is the part of the Czech-Polish twin town Český Těšín - Cieszyn ), was built in 1928. It served the Orthodox Jewish community as a place of worship until 1939.

description

The synagogue on Bočkova Street was built as a terraced house according to the plans of the city architect Eduard David. Residential houses are connected to the right and left, only their unusual crimson- colored façade sets them apart from the row houses. The prayer room on the first floor has five windows facing the street in an oriental style. The portal with two entrances is adorned by two arches resting on columns .

Todays use

The only remaining synagogue in Teschen has served the Polish cultural club in the Czech Republic PZKO (Polský kulturně-osvětový svaz v České republice) as a cultural and meeting place since 1967.
