BibSonomy

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

BibSonomy is a system for managing bookmarks (bookmarks) and sharing of publications .

features

With BibSonomy, users can save and organize their bookmarks and the text of interesting publications in a web database ( repository ). Since this content is made accessible by various users through joint indexing, it is a social bookmarking system.

BibSonomy offers flexible search options and supports the integration of different user communities by serving as an online community for the exchange of literature. Research teams and learning groups are supported by special recording and query options.

Both bookmarks and publications can be annotated with key words ( tags ) in order to structure information and enable flexible searches. The user is given suggestions for keywords; he can also freely choose new keywords, which means that the vocabulary can be adapted to new content. Such an uncontrolled system of terms in social tagging is also called lay taxonomy or folksonomy . It is further developed by the contributing research groups and individual users to describe their information needs.

The text of a publication can e.g. B. be uploaded as PDF . Publication data are saved in BibTeX format. They can also be exported in other formats, such as EndNote or HTML (for example to create a publication list).

history

The system was developed and provided by a team of students and scientists from the knowledge processing department at the University of Kassel .
