Bible 2011

Bible 2011 is the title of a Norwegian translation of the Bible into the two Norwegian standard varieties bokmål and nynorsk .

Work on this Bible translation began in 1999. The New Testament was published in 2005 and a full translation followed in 2011. In addition to three translators from the Norwegian Bible Society, 30 other translators, mostly Graecists and Hebraists, as well as twelve Norwegian writers, such as Jon Fosse and Karl Ove Knausgård , worked on the translation .

On October 19, 2011, sales of the initial print run of 25,000 copies began, for which some bookstores opened at 3 a.m. By the end of 2011, 79,000 copies had been sold. It topped the Norwegian bestseller lists several times in the weeks after its publication.
